James Morris’ athletic training career spanned more than 40 years at Butler University and Indianapolis area clinics. Jim graduated from Butler in 1937 and served as assistant athletic trainer from 1937 – 1956. He then went into private clinical practice but later returned to Butler employed as the head athletic trainer in 1964. Morris was also assistant trainer for the National College All-Star Team in football and the Indiana High School All-Stars in basketball for 18 years. He also assisted coaches and athletes from high schools statewide with problems related to athletic injuries. Jim was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1976 and is a NATA Hall of Fame member (1969).
