IATA OFFICER ROLE DESCRIPTIONS

President

The President-Elect will assume the office of President immediately following the conclusion of the President’s term of office.

Term: Elected as the President-Elect and serves two years as President-Elect and two years as President. In the event the President is unable to fulfill the full term of office, the President-Elect will be elevated to the office of the President and serve the remainder of this term. They will then continue as President to serve their original 2-year term. The President cannot serve consecutive terms.

Duties:

1.      Serves as chair, voting member, and official spokesperson for the Executive Committee, Council, and Association.
2.      Calls all meetings of the Executive Council as deemed necessary.
3.      Implements and mandates the policies of the IATA as determined by the Executive Council.
4.      Presides over Executive Council meetings and IATA Business Meetings.
5.      Disseminates information about IATA business to the Executive Council that occurred between IATA Executive Council meetings and distributes appropriate information to the general IATA membership.
6.      Serves as Ex-officio member of all IATA Committees.
7.      Serves as Executive Committee liaison to the Governmental Affairs Committee and the Committee on Practice Advancement.
8.      Serves as a member of the Budget Committee.
9.      Appoints, with the approval of the Executive Council, all committee chairpersons.
10.  Establishes Special Committees and appoints coordinators as needed.
11.  Appoints, with the approval of the Executive Council, all representatives, and all liaisons of the IATA to GLATA and other allied organizations.
12.  Transacts business for, and on behalf of the IATA, subject to the provisions of the IATA Constitution and Bylaws.
13.  This is a non-paying position.

President-Elect

Term: Elected and serves a two-year term. Term is followed by office of President. In the event the President-Elect is unable to fulfill the full term of office, an appointment will be made by the President to fill the position for the remainder of the term, subject to Executive Council approval. In the event of office appointment, this individual will not be elevated into the office of President.

Duties:

1.      Serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Council.
2.      Serves as election chairperson.
3.      Serves as President pro-tempore in the absence of the President.
4.      Serves as a member of the Budget Committee.
5.      Coordinates the production and dissemination of the IATA Leadership Directory to the Executive Council.
6.      Accepts and investigates reports of violations of the NATA Code of Ethics.
7.      Reports to the NATA Ethics Committee findings and recommendations concerning any violations of NATA Code of Ethics.
8.      Has available a copy of "Roberts Rules of Order.”
9.      Performs additional duties as assigned by the President.
10.  This is a non-paying position.

Secretary

Term: Election shall be for a two-year term of office. In the event the Secretary is unable to fulfill the full term of office, an appointment will be made by the President to fill the position for the remainder of the term, subject to Executive Council approval. An individual may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms as Secretary.

Duties:

1.      Serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Council.
2.      Serves as the Executive Committee liaison to the Communications Committee.
3.      Serves as custodian of all non-financial records, including a current and accurate mailing list, books, papers, and documents belonging to the IATA.
4.      Records minutes at all Executive Council meetings and IATA Business Meetings and distributes minutes to the Executive Council and general membership.
5.      Maintains and updates IATA Policies and Procedures document.
6.      Serves as the coordinator of official correspondence of the Association with the Membership.
7.      Manages membership database in conjunction with NATA policy.
8.      Serves as a member of the Budget Committee.
9.      Maintains a monthly summary report of the financial records of the IATA obtained from the Treasurer.
10.  Oversees membership application process per Article V of the Bylaws.
11.  In conjunction with the President, will oversee Association management services that are contracted.
12.  Performs additional duties as assigned by the President.
13.  This is a non-paying position.

Treasurer

Term: Election shall be for a two-year term of office. In the event the Treasurer is unable to fulfill the full term of office an appointment will be made by the President to fill the office for the remainder of the term, subject to Executive Council approval.  An individual may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms as Treasurer.

Duties:

1.      Serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Council.
2.      Possesses power and complete responsibility to transact all financial business for and on behalf of the IATA as approved by the Executive Council.
3.      Ensures the IATA does not commit to financial obligations that exceed available resources.
4.      Secures formal agreements with external financial planner(s) and accountants services to assist with the fiscal management of the Association.
5.      Submits a financial report to the Executive Council prior to all Executive Council meetings, excluding special meetings, unless specifically requested.
6.      Submits a financial report to the membership at the Annual IATA Business Meeting.
7.      Serves as the Executive Committee Liaison to the Development Committee.
8.      Serves as Chair of the Budget Committee. Additionally, compiles committee budget projections into the annual operating budget for review, revision, and approval by the Executive Council.
9.      Serves as custodian of all financial records of the IATA.
10.  Collects dues and other assessments from the IATA membership directly or indirectly through the GLATA Treasurer.
11.  Maintains a permanent and accurate record of all receipts and disbursements of the IATA.
12.  Serves as the liaison to the scholarship and research awards committees.
13.  Performs additional duties as assigned by the President.
14.  This is a non-paying position.
The IATA contracts with the management company, The Corydon Group, to assist officers with the day-to-day management of the Association.
